ALTE's 8th International ConferenceLanguage Assessment Fit for the FutureMadrid, Spain26-28 April 2023 | #ALTE8th |
ALTE's International Conference is back - and fit for the future! Three years ago we had to postpone, and then cancel, our 7th International Conference in Madrid. So much has happened in the last three years - in the development and practice of language assessment as well as in the world in general. Our 8th International Conference will therefore look at how language assessment has shaped society, and will shape society, in order to be fit for the future. The conference will take place in a hybrid format, with the encouragement to attend in person to catch up with old friends and make new ones, but with some digital provision for those who are not able to travel to be with us in Spain! |
HOST ORGANISATION ALTE is delighted to work with its member Instituto Cervantes to run and host the 8th International Conference. Please visit our sponsors page to learn more about Instituto Cervantes and find out more about our sponsors for the event, to whom we are extremely grateful for their support. | |
The conference will be held at the Novotel Madrid Center hotel, in Madrid's centrally located Salamanca district, just ten minutes' walk from El Retiro Park. |
THEME Language Assessment Fit for the Future ALTE's mission is to set standards for language assessment, sustain diversity of languages (both spoken and signed) through our commitment to multilingualism, and maximise impact of language teaching, testing and assessment in Europe and beyond. Our eighth international conference considers how language assessment shapes, and is shaped by wider society, in order to be fit for the future in this decade. |
Plenaries, paper presentations, workshops and videos will be focused around the key strands of the conference, which highlight ways language assessment is fit for the future:
|
The conference programme is now available to help plan your time in Madrid. The full programme, including all bios and abstracts, will be ready in time for the conference. |
The International Conference will once again host the LAMI (Language Assessment for Migration and Integration) Forum, a session devoted to this important and timely area of our field. |
ENCOURAGING MULTILINGUALISM While the main conference language is English, some paper presentations and workshops will be given in Spanish, ISL, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Plenary sessions and the LAMI Forum will be simultaneously interpreted into both Spanish and International Sign Language. Other sessions will be interpreted into International Sign Language on request. |
